Pandemic Playlist - Kenny Rogers

Kenny Rogers passed away on March 20th, 2020 at the age of 81. He was a country music legend (and also known for his line of fried chicken, Kenny Rogers' Roasters) who released 39 studio albums over a 44 year solo career. So I thought, well, why not put together a #PandemicPlaylist for Kenny? Well, here you go. Spotify playlist is here

10 songs. 39 minutes.

There is a bonus video at the end of this list - it's my favorite version of The Gambler - from The Muppet Show in 1979. It really gives a good look at the lyrics via the Muppets.

"Every gambler knows
That the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away
And knowin' what to keep.
'Cause every hand's a winner
And every hand's a loser,
And the best that you can hope for
Is to die in your sleep."

"And when he finished speakin'
He turned back toward the window
Crushed out his cigarette
And faded off to sleep
And somewhere in the darkness
The gambler he broke even
And in his final words
I found an ace that I could keep."

"You got to know when to hold 'em.
Know when to fold 'em.
Know when to walk away,
Know when to run.
You never count your money
When you're sitting at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealing's done."
